Get to Know Me
Hi, I'm Lauren, a Women's Psychotherapist and Wellness Consultant
My greatest joy is to help you break through what's in your way. I believe wholeheartedly that you deserve - and are capable of - living a life of emotional freedom and internal peace.
Our work together will help you get there.
What might it be like for you to work with me?
I'm not the type of therapist who sits back and nods while you wonder every session what I'm thinking. Rather, you can count on me to roll up my sleeves and do the hard work with you. I deliver honest feedback and won't shy away from the tough questions. I'll help you examine your "stuff", and stick with you when things get hard. We'll laugh often! I'm not afraid to talk about anything you need to talk about - no matter how awkward, humiliating, or taboo it might seem to anyone else. Trust me when I say that after years in this field, my shock meter is extremely high. I believe that our time together calls for bringing it ALL to the table so we can get in deep and sort it out.
My top three values as your counselor are commitment, creativity, and perseverance. Commitment means that I'm fully committed to the work we're doing together, and creativity means that I'm thinking outside the box to deliver the most comprehensive care possible. Perseverance means that we're going to do everything it takes to get you closer to creating a better life out of your challenges.
These values also mean that I work best with clients who are equally committed to the process, are open to the work, and who are willing to get honest and real in order to make progress. These clients are ready to consider what it might take for them to make a change in themselves or in their life. Only you can decide to make lasting change; and its my job to support and facilitate the process of getting you there.
As a clinician who is dedicated to doing women-centered work, I deeply understand and support the lens of women as they seek happiness and meaning in a world of conflicting messages and competing priorities.
Here are a few less personal, but still-relevant facts you may want to know: I am a fully licensed mental health clinician in the states of Connecticut, New York, and Pennsylvania. I received my graduate degree and training from The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and my BA in psychology and creative writing from The College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA.
I am also a Certified Secondary School Counselor in the states of PA and CT, though I do not actively utilize this certification in my role at Lauren Drago Therapy. Rather, these certifications often help me approach common educational and familial road blocks with comprehensive understanding.
Above all, no matter what I'm doing or where I'm doing it,
at my core is a deep desire to empower you to move forward.
I help women to better manage and overcome their challenges so they can begin to live their best life.
